Program Description:
While nanotechnology refers to “research and technological development at the atomic and molecular levels, at scales of 1–100 nm, to achieve a fundamental understanding of phenomena and materials at the nanoscale, using structures, devices, and systems with novel properties and performance resulting from their small size,” nanomedicine is distinguished by its use of nanoscale-engineered nanodevices and nanostructures to enable diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. Nanomedicine tools range from drug-delivery systems and nanobiosensors to nanorobots and nanoscaffolds. It draws on several disciplines, including physics, engineering, chemistry, and biology, and seeks to improve quality of life through major advances in healthcare.
With the rapid growth of science and technology in nanomedicine and increasing investment in this field, human quality of life is expected to improve substantially in the near future. Consequently, universities and higher education institutions must plan and implement programs to train and develop the human resources needed across various areas of nanomedicine. Accordingly, educating and training skilled nanomedicine specialists to pursue doctoral-level studies is regarded as the primary mission of our educational program.
